Niacinamide & Your Skin Barrier

Niacinamide & Your Skin Barrier

Niacinamide, also known as Vitamin B3, has well-researched benefits for the skin barrier, something that becomes increasingly important as our skin changes through peri-menopause, menopause and beyond.

Why does your skin barrier matter after 40?

Your skin barrier is essentially your first line of defence. It helps keep moisture in and protects your skin from everyday environmental stress. As oestrogen declines, skin can become drier, more sensitive and less resilient.

What does niacinamide do?

Niacinamide helps strengthen the skin barrier and improve its ability to retain moisture. It can also help improve skin texture, uneven tone and the appearance of fine lines, making it particularly useful for mature and menopausal skin.

You'll find niacinamide in our Cooling Day Gel Cream and Cooling Night Gel Cream, but it doesn't work alone.

Vivéa Cooling Day Gel Cream combines niacinamide with Ceramide NP, another important barrier-supporting ingredient that helps lock in moisture and protect against dryness. We then add hydrolysed hyaluronic acid for lasting hydration, alongside New Zealand botanicals including Totarol and Reishi extract to help calm and support the skin.

Vivéa Cooling Night Gel Cream pairs niacinamide with hydrolysed hyaluronic acid, shea butter, jojoba esters and botanical oils to help support and replenish skin overnight. And while you're sleeping, your skin is still busy. By 3:00 am, it's deep into its natural overnight repair and renewal cycle. This is when a well-formulated night cream can help support the skin with hydration, nourishment and barrier-supporting ingredients while its natural restorative processes are underway.

This is how we formulate Vivéa products - carefully selected ingredients working together in harmony to support hormonally changing skin.

We believe, for skin after 40, it's not about using stronger skincare, it's all about using smarter skincare that includes ingredients that work well together and address specific issues of mature skin.
